The award aims to help build the recipient's leadership skills in technology, business and community areas, and to develop a mentoring relationship with prominent professionals in the private and public sectors. Funding for this Award has been provided by the Linard Family and a range of donors, including the ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics in memory of Dr Natasha Linard, a member of the first undergraduate engineering intake at the ANU. AS one of the first women to graduate with an ANU Bachelor of Engineering and subsequently with an ANU PhD in Engineering, Dr Natasha Linard was and continues to be, an outstanding and inspiring role model for women engineers.
