Course Details
The Master of Translation Studies is designed to provide students who are proficient in English and another language with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective translators. Students will be able to work with a wide variety of text types (e.g. scientific or commercial publications, literary texts), according to their interests, and choose one of many languages (both modern and ancient) to translate into or out of. The programme emphasises translation theory as well as theory-informed translation practice; in addition, there is the possibility to focus on Machine Translation Evaluation. This combination is distinctive in the sector, offering cutting-edge knowledge that is directly applicable in professional contexts. It combines theoretical perspectives with practical applications, and provides the opportunity for real-life experiences, involving direct contact with professionals.
Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)
Course structure: This program requires the successful completion of 80 units. Students must complete 70 units of core courses and 10 units of directed courses at the 6000 level. Students must complete only courses that form part of their program.
