Course Details

The Master of Special and Inclusive Education is a coursework program intended for practising teachers and others with relevant experience in prevention and intervention services who wish to gain postgraduate professional qualifications in special and inclusive education. The program blends theory, research and practice, with an emphasis on applying evidence-based approaches to support the learning and development of students with additional needs and those at risk.

Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)

Course structure: Students are required to successfully complete 80 units of approved study according to the specialistion chosen as follows: General Special Education - consisting of 30 units of core courses, 30 units of compulsory courses and 20 units of directed courses. Early Childhood - consisting of 30 units of core courses, 40 units of compulsory courses and 10 units of directed courses. Emotional Disturbance/Behaviour Problems - consisting of 30 units of core courses, 40 units of compulsory courses and 10 units of directed courses. Deaf Studies and Deaf Education - consisting of 30 units of core courses and 50 units of compulsory courses.

Students requiring in-school experience in Special or Inclusive placements should complete EDUC6109 as a Directed course in their program of study. International Student Visa holders must study the General Special Education specialisation.
