Master of Philosophy (Media, Culture and Creative Arts)

Course Details

Master Degrees (Research) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for research, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications. This research course requires students to spend three months developing and presenting a detailed project plan as part of their candidacy application. The research project, guided by supervisors, involves the submission of a substantial written thesis in accordance with University regulations. Students must demonstrate high-level skills in individual project management, research techniques, critical thinking and analytical writing, as well as detailed knowledge in a specific project area. Students can select to undertake research in one or more of the following fields: Internet Studies; Journalism; Librarianship and Corporate Information Management; Mass Communication; Media Studies and/or Screen Arts, including Film and Television. Students are encouraged to complete interdisciplinary work relating to areas across and within the broader, converging fields of media, culture and creative arts.

Qualification: Master Degree (By Research)

Course structure: Master Degrees (Research) require students to undertake an approved research program leading to a thesis for independent examination; they may include advanced level coursework studies.
