Master of Human Rights and Global Engagement

Course Details

Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications. The Human Rights and Global Engagement course is designed to promote a critical understanding of human rights discourses and practices, and global engagement from a range of disciplinary perspectives. The course examines modern human-rights institutions and explores the philosophical and political development of beliefs about human rights that underpin current systems. It explores how social movements, grass-roots campaigns, and government and non-government organisations have contributed to human rights practices and activism. It also explores the opportunities and challenges presented by contemporary global engagement and possible, equitable, and sustainable futures. The course employs both theoretical and practical learning methods, giving students the chance to put their learning into practice and to pursue individual areas of interest more deeply.
