The Master of Food Science and Technology program at the University of Newcastle will provide you with the advanced knowledge, skills and opportunities to work in various areas in the food industry. Our flexible program structure is designed to empower you with the necessary skills, knowledge, and professional industry experience to thrive in this exciting area of work. You will be prepared to pursue diverse roles across the food industry sector or continue into food science research, including product development and quality assurance. Researchers in the discipline of Food Science have expertise, and actively work, in the areas of food and flavour chemistry, food processing and preservation, post-harvest technology, sensory analysis, consumer behaviour amongst others. Within the School, they actively collaborate with researchers in the discipline of Biological Sciences (plant science and biotechnology groups) and with the School of Health Sciences in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)
Course structure: The Master of Food Science and Technology program requires students to complete 160 units. This includes 80 units of core courses and one 80 unit specialisation (students choose either a Research or Industry based specialisation).
