Course Details
Over the last ten years, a number of new services have been digitised and combined into a single, seamless all-purpose telecommunications and network architecture platform in third generation (3G), fourth generation (4G) mobile communication networks and the emerging fifth generation (5G) networks and Internet of things. These new applications and services are based on fast, reliable wired and wireless communications technology; hence, as technology becomes increasingly powerful, inexpensive and accessible, telecommunications and networking are becoming some of the fastest growing professions today. The foundation course which supports these technologies is the unique focus of this program. The MEngTech (Tel) aims to provide students with a solid foundation, focusing on the planning, design, implementation, management and maintenance of telecommunication systems and networks. In Australia, new hence hands-on work with the latest telecommunication hardware and software technology is an essential part of the course. A broad range of electives in IT, computer networking, systems analysis, and security will make them a well-rounded, work-ready graduate able to work in a professional setting. Through the mandatory industry internship program, students will gain valuable experience and future job opportunities. In addition, the Master program emphasises the development of key professional skills, such as technical and non-technical communication, collaboration and project management through problem-based and project-based learning.
Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)
Course structure: Each unit is 20 credit points. A full time study load is 60 credit points per trimester. 10 core units and 2 electives are required to complete the MEng(Tel). 6 electives are at level 600 (advanced study), while five electives are at level 500.
