Course Details
Engineering is the practical application of the sciences and how to use physics to build structures; how to use maths in oil and gas installations; how computer programming can make a robot come to life; and more. The Diploma of Engineering will introduce students to a range of subjects leading to second year of the engineering degrees offered at La Trobe University. The course is practical and hands-on. All of La Trobe University's engineering degrees are accredited by Engineers Australia and include work placement in a range of fields. Depending on the chosen degree students will develop skills in a number of core areas like biomedical engineering, communication engineering, electronic and electrical systems, sustainability in energy production, automotive engineering, the application of technology in modern medicine, project management of large-scale projects, sustainable infrastructure, water resources, civil construction, surveying and computer-aided design.

Course structure: Students will undertake 8 core subjects including: Programming for Engineers and Scientists; Introduction to Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Computer Aided Design; Engineering Design and Problem Solving; Mechanics of Solids; Calculus and Different Equations; Number Systems and Linear Algebra
