Course Details

The Bachelor of Youth Work is a cutting-edge program that trains professional youth workers, bringing together the best intelligence from across the humanities and social sciences to understand why things are the way they are for young people and to do something about it. Based on a commitment to work with young people not as a problem but as people who face challenges and barriers, the programme draws on the Universitys core commitment to social justice and inclusion. Because youth workers typically work with high degrees of autonomy, the course trains students to make their own decisions and take responsibility for them, to take initiative in solving problems and designing new approaches, and to ground their practice firmly in the ethics of their profession. Intensely practical, the program provides skills for working with young people as well as opportunities to engage with young people and communities under the supervision of experienced youth workers.
