Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine/Arts


Course Details

This Arts/Medicine program is an alternative pathway of study, in which, over a 7 or 8 year period, a student may complete the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, with the degrees of Bachelor of Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine. It is intended for those students who wish to continue their interest and studies in the Arts and Social Sciences during their medical studies. Students will be required to fulfil the requirements of the BMed/MD degree course, as well as 96 units of credit in subjects offered within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences including an approved major sequence.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: Students will not be required to complete General Education subjects or other subjects outside the Faculty of Medicine. They will usually complete the requirements for the BA after third year. Upon rejoining the Medicine program, they will undertake a short clinical skills refresher course.

Due to the structure of the curriculum, few if any credits can be granted to students entering Medicine after partly completing or completing another degree. Exemption from all or part of the requirement to undertake 12 Units of Credit of General Education courses will be considered and granted when applicable.
