Our teacher education program incorporates introductory and advanced curriculum units, a strong social justice and leadership focus, 90 days of work-based placement in early childhood, and opportunities to develop strong practical and research skills from a theoretical and ethical foundation. Practical experience: You will obtain professional experience in a range of early childhood settings. In second and third year experience in early childhood teaching is developed with children aged 3-5 years and birth-2 years. A 30-day internship is completed in fourth year when it is expected that you will be able to create learning experiences for young children within a supported professional context. Career opportunities: Examples include teaching in a range of early learning centres and preschools (birth-5 years). Qualified early childhood teachers are in high demand and early childhood education is a high priority for both Commonwealth and state governments in Australia. This qualification is not suitable for teachers seeking employment in the Kindergarten to Year 6 school sector.
