Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary)
Macquarie University
Course Details
Early childhood teachers provide young children with a strong foundation for learning, and help them develop their social and emotional skills. Primary teachers build on these capabilities, helping children develop their literacy and numeracy skills; as well as their physical, arts, social and emotional competencies. The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) is part of an innovative suite of new education degrees being pioneered by Macquarie. Streamlined and future focused, the degrees provide the opportunity to undertake full time employment as a conditionally accredited teacher during fourth year. Your studies will be integrated into your work via a hybrid program of learn, plan, do, reflect cycles delivered through education networks helmed by expert teachers. In your first year, youll study a set of core units that explore inclusive practices, technology in the classroom, cultural and linguistic diversity, sustainability teaching, the integration of Indigenous knowledge in the classroom, and how children learn. Youll also undertake your first professional experience placement. In your second and third years, youll study units focused on early childhood education and primary teaching. The streamlined nature of the degree, in conjunction with the extensive placements, means youll graduate wholly equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage modern early childhood education and primary school settings.
