Explore the social and behavioural science of criminology. Examine contemporary criminal justice issues in Australia. Be informed by the latest thinking and most up-to-date developments in criminology and criminal justice. Study the key principles of criminal law and procedures including criminal responsibility, defences, bail and evidence and the links to policing, punishment and victimisation. Develop your understanding of research methods to inform policy design and analysis. Investigate different ways of doing research, including how to design ethical studies that address pressing criminal justice challenges. Build your analytical skills and apply them to real-life problems in applied social research. Build your understanding of topical social problems and how policymakers can work to address these by incorporating research and evidence. Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to analyse, track and measure the impact of policy interventions.
