Course Details

This program is ideal for those interested in working effectively with people as a counsellor in a variety of areas of specialization or in a counselling related profession. Students will be provided with practical counselling skills as well and a firm understanding of the social and environmental contexts that impact on individuals in today s society. The program provides a comprehensive overview of counselling frameworks and skills, ethical practice and cultural diversity. It provides entry level counselling training with a strong focus on contemporary counselling, psychotherapy and psychology theory, research and practice. The course also includes a professional placement totaling 240 hours, so that students gain practical experience before they graduate. This degree is accredited by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), the peak body for counselling and psychotherapy in Australia, and gives students the practical skills and theoretical foundation needed to work as a counsellor.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: 24 units: 22 core; 2 electives. This course includes 240 hours in a placement agency.
