Course Details

Graduates are trained in basic knowledge of the structure and function of living organisms with particular focus on the human. Using this knowledge, together with problem solving skills, critical reasoning and scientific methods taught in the program, the graduate is well prepared to collaborate on scientific investigations of human structure and function in health and disease at a molecular, cellular and whole systems level.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: Qualification for the award of Bachelor of Biomedical Science requires the completion of 240 units. Students must complete 160 units of core courses, 20 units of Work Integrated Learning, 50 units selected from the course list, and 10 units of electives.

Potential career pathways for graduates include biomedical research in government, industry and pathology laboratories; opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and reproductive industries (IVF). Graduates may also pursue careers in education, communication, patent law and administration with a requirement for knowledge in biomedical sciences. This program is suitable for those seeking entry into a range of graduate health professional programs where students can become registered health care practitioners, and also in Law where they combine their knowledge of biomedical science with law to pursue paths such as insurance law and patent applications on biomedical inventions.
