Bachelor of Biomedical Science


Course Details

Biomedical science helps society through applying new scientific knowledge to medicine and healthcare. In this degree, you will gain an understanding of health and the methods for diagnosing and treating disease.You will receive excellent training for entry into the Doctor of Medicine (5099)*. You will develop knowledge and skills in the biological sciences and clinical sciences and understand how they can be applied to medicine, biomedical research and healthcare services. In your first year, you will be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning biomedical science. In your second and third years, you will explore more advanced aspects of the biomedical and clinical sciences, including genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, anatomy, physiology, immunology, microbiology, infectious disease, pharmacology and neuroscience. You will learn through hands-on, laboratory-based training in the biomedical sciences.* The Doctor of Medicine is an extended Masters program (Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Level 9).
